The TRANSFORMATION project aims to demonstrate the feasibility and usefulness of comprehensive and comparable primary health care system performance measurement. We will collect data and compare and report results from three different regions in Canada:

These three regions were selected because of their similarities: they share a similar mix of urban and rural areas; they have similar proportions of Aboriginal, immigrant, and elderly populations; and, they have similar unemployment and income inequality rates.

These regions are all part of what Statistics Canada defined using statistical techniques as Peer Group A: geographically-defined regions that cluster together because of their similar social and economic make up.
